For the past several years, we’ve hosted a Liturgical Life group for our community. We’re a diverse gathering - of all ages & circumstances, from a variety of denominations - learning alongside each other and working to graft the traditions of the liturgical calendar into our own lives & landscapes.
Though I share from our perspective of farm life in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, asking how local seasonality intersects with liturgical rhythms is something anyone can do anywhere.
I get the sense that so many people are hungry for Church year traditions; hungry for community to share these experiences with, to grow with, to learn from. In our modern world, both secular and religious, many of the nuances of the liturgical calendar have fallen by the wayside in cultural celebration.
And, though I know that everyone’s circumstances are varied, and our lives’ seasons are often in flux - having a liturgical living group in our own community solidified my faith in how impactful & fruitful these habits can be. It has been a holistic catechesis for me; the calendar is a tool that I believe is thoughtfully, beautifully designed to invite us deeper into Christ.
So, I’ve written a booklet for all of my lovely subscribers here - a resource that shares more about the formation of our Liturgical Life group, the things I’ve learned along the way, and some ideas for how you might craft a group of your own, in your very own community.
This printable booklet is available for FREE to all of my subscribers!
It’s posted in the Hearthstone Fables Subscriber Chat and is also included in the Welcome email to new subscribers.
How can I further support you in building your liturgical living community?
I don’t pretend to be an ‘expert’ in liturgical living or in hosting events (far from it!); I’m a fellow-pilgrim on the journey, learning & growing & falling short every day...but I believe we’re called to live in community and show up imperfectly.
It would be a privilege to get to work alongside you as you build your own liturgical living community. I’m here to offer support, ask questions, bounce ideas back & forth, & share my experiences. We can work together to consider your unique landscape & community, and how it can give voice to the Church year.
I’m offering this support to my paid subscribers on Substack, at no extra cost. I can be available for an opening Zoom call, as well as ongoing brainstorming chats via Voxer.
One can never (& should never!) promise certitude - but I do believe that if you feel the itch to have a liturgical living community in your own neighborhood, it’s a curiosity worth seeking out…and I’m happy to help ask questions & explore ideas alongside you.
If you’d like to connect and work together on forming a local Liturgical Life group, please email me!
Pax et bonum,
Kristin
If you’d like to make a one-time donation, I have a PayPal Tip Jar - please know that I’m so grateful for your monetary support, which really does help me continue to do this work that I’m so passionate about!
For those who are able to support a monthly or annual paid subscription, I offer occasional new printables, extra posts, and access to my whole library of printables: the Scriptorium. I’m so grateful for your generosity, which helps to support my work through the purchase of additional books for research, art supplies, and more!
