Hallowtide Printables
All Hallows' Eve Paper Scene | Soul Cakes gift tag | Liturgical Binder sheets | Original Art
As we steadily approach Allhallowtide, I have a handful of printables to share with you! Scroll to the bottom to find some downloads, and keep an eye out for more posts on Hallowe’en, Hallowmas, and Soulmas coming as we near the end of October.
Hallowe’en Kailyard Paper Scene
I have a somewhat esoteric (but symbolism-packed!) paper scene set for you! There are so many Hallowe’en “eras” that I love…I’ve got a heart for mid-century vintage spookiness, classic Victorian, Medieval… But for this set, I’m harkening back to Scottish Hallowe’en traditions that tend to hail from the 18th & 19th centuries: traditions that intersect the harvest and the spooky.
From roasting hazelnuts to “pulling the kale” & making Hallowe’en torches - to good old fashioned apple-bobbing - this scene playful explores a handful of rural liturgical traditions.
Some of these elements may seem curious for now, but hang tight - another post will be arriving in your inbox this week, with more details about All Hallows’ Eve and some of these traditional elements.1
Soul Cake gift tags
One of our favorite traditions is baking soul cakes and dropping off jars of them with neighbors & friends during Hallowtide - here’s a little printable gift tag for you, featuring some chipmunks enjoying a plate of soul cakes and surrounded by a wreath of hazelnuts.
Please keep an eye out for my Hallowe’en email to arrive this week - there will be two recipes for soul cakes in it…one historic, one modern!
Liturgical Binder pages
Do you keep a liturgical year binder? I started doing that years ago to try to put together all of the scattered resources I’d collected, and it’s been so helpful (though I’ve transitioned from binders to file boxes, eek!)
I have a few offerings for your binder - some very brief info sheets for Hallowtide, as well as a pretty cover page.
