St Bart is the patron saint of my church! This celebration feels like one last hurrah for summer. I love it. I think I’ll plan a little feast tomorrow based on your post. 🌻🍉

I always enjoy your posts so much. Over the last couple years, I've been trying to live more liturgically, and I love learning about the traditions and history surrounding the feast. I didn't know anything about Bartlemas before reading your post, and it was exciting to discover this end of summer celebration.

I'm so thrilled to hear that, Jessica - thanks so much for joining me here and for sharing! I was brand-new to Bartlemas, too, and it's one of so many feasts that have really enriched my faith life. Summer is really chock-full of some beautiful liturgical traditions, isn't it?!

It really is! Before I began reading your posts or doing any digging of my own the "Time after Pentecost" or "Ordinary Time" felt like exactly that. Just ordinary. But now I notice the wonders contained in this season like Johnsmas and the feasts connected to St Lawrence, the Assumption and now Bartlemas. Summer will never feel ordinary again.

It's truly an underrated gem of a season! My favorite feasts are in Ordinary Time, and they make the rest of the year make "sense" in so many new ways for me.
