ASH WEDNESDAY
LITURGICAL COLORS: Green
This wintry season of Ordinary Time after Epiphany (where “ordinary” is derived from the Latin ordo: a counted order or rhythm) reminds os of the the revelation Christ…the revealing to the world of the Incarnation. It invites us to make our hearts and homes places of revelation and growth – just as signs of new growth begin to appear amidst the cold of winter during this season.
Divided by the Christmas and Easter cycles, Ordinary Time as a whole is split into this beautiful wintry aspect (Ordinary Time – Epiphanytide) and a summertime aspect (Ordinary Time – Season After Pentecost).
